Dr. Estrade’s Recommendations

A go-to list for the best products for all of your fur babies!

Canine Products

Heartworm Prevention – Proheart 6

Proheart 6 is an injection that prevents heartworms in your pet for 6 months. It is safe for use in dogs 6 months of age and older. We recommend using Proheart because there’s no need to remember to administer oral or topical medication every month, as Proheart will work continuously for 6 months until your pet needs the shot again.

If you choose to give your pet Proheart 6, talk to one of our veterinarians about it during your pet’s annual exam! They can administer the injection same-day if your pet is a candidate.

Flea Prevention – Bravecto

Bravecto is a chewable that can help prevent fleas for up to 12 weeks!

All-in-One Parasite Prevention – Trifexis

Trifexis is an all-in-one product that you give monthly. It includes full protection against not only heartworms and fleas, but also controls adult hookworm, whipworm and roundworm infections.

Dental Treats – Oravet

We recommend OraVet Dental Chews for dental health. It not only prevents bacterial attachment but reduces plague and breaks down exisiting plague. This product can also help with bad breath.

Weight Loss Treats – Lite Snackers or Lean Treats

NutriSentials Lean Treats are low-fat and low-calorie delicious treats! These are made with real chicken and, due to the soft and chewy texture, can be used as a pill pocket to hide medicine.

Lite Snackers are oven-baked crunchy treats that are low in fat and high in fiber. They can also help to clean teeth and freshen breath!

Both of these products are good for our chunky doggos looking to lose weight. If you’re not sure which one would be better for your dog, ask your veterinarian or a memeber of our team for recommendations on what would benefit your dog more.

Food – Hill's Pet Nutrition, Purina ProPlan, and Royal Canin

We recommend these three brands and their diets highly. Your pet’s diet is one of the most important factors for their overall health, and giving them a diet that has little to no nutritional value for them can cause major repercussions. Hill’s, Purina, and Royal Canin have an excellent dietary team that run studies and monitor their product to ensure maximum quality. You can buy these brands from our clinic directly or through our online pharmacy, Vetsource. You can also talk to your veterinarian about specific recommendations for what will work best for your pet.

We do not recommend buying from brands that promote a “fad” diet for your pet. Examples of these diets are grain free or vegetarian.

Feline Products

All-in-One Parasite Prevention – Revolution Plus

Revolution Plus is a monthly topical solution to protect against hearworms, fleas, ticks, ear mites, roundworms and hookworms! This is truly the best product for our feline friends to keep them safe from these parasites.

We recommend giving parasite prevention even for our indoor friends! You can still track in parasites from the outdoors, and heartworms are caused by mosquito bites. There’s always a few mosquiots that find refuge indoors, and there’s no heartworm treatment for cats.

Dental Treats – Feline Greenies

They come in a variety of delicious flavors that your cat will love, and help prevent gum disease!

Regular Treats – Royal Canin

Cats love the flavor of these treats, and they are actually healthy for them! Royal Canin also has other specialty formulas that may be recommended by your veterinarian, such as Urinary and Gastrointestinal.
